30th September 2020 | Live Stream
Come and explore the remarkable women at the heart of the ancient Greek myths with the classicist and Women's Prize shortlisted writer Natalie Haynes as she moves away from the traditional retellings of the Greek myths in a thought-provoking, clever and funny Salon on September 30th as we present Pandora's Jar: Women in the Greek Myths.
On September 30th, we will be celebrating the way Natalie has for the first time in two thousand years redressed the imbalance in the myths we know so well (Pandora, Medusa, Penelope and many more) by researching the original meaning of those women of Greek myths. In writing Pandora's Jar, Natalie has restored these mythical women to equal footing with the menfolk and so we wanted to throw her a party. Natalie will be explaining how she breathed new life into ancient myths by an in conversation with Helen Bagnall before opening up for questions.
Want to be part of this great, digital celebration of Natalie's work? Come along, book on or if you'd like to go all out - we will be offering FROW (front row) for guests who buy Pandora's Jar: Women in the Greek Myths. FROW can even put their question straight to Natalie herself by the magic of technology. We will also be offering a LIVE signing of Natalie’s book for anyone who has bought the book from us - so you get your moment with 'the nation's great muse'.
