20th April 2017 | Covent Garden
We’re back on 20th April to take a look at SHARING as part of our ‘Caring, Daring, Sharing’ Spring series: exploring how power and our privilege can be used differently.
World-renowned peace prize activist & Nobel Peace prize nominee, Dr Scilla Elworthy is committed to the prevention of armed violence, supporting peace builders in hot conflicts around the world, some of the bravest people the world has ever known who risk their lives to stop others being killed. She also trains business leaders and young social entrepreneurs in conflict resolution, and will share these skills with us all.
Salon London's Sharing will be co-hosted by Justine Solomons, founder of Byte the Book who's 'help now - think later' is taking the networking world by storm. She will lead an exploratory look at the social psychology behind reciprocity.
And finally, renowned philosopher Roman Krznaric will be on the stage to explain why we need to stop ‘living in the moment’. He believes the true spirit of carpe diem has been hijacked and reduced to the instant hit of one-click online shopping, and the idea of being in the here and now, and we have barely noticed. He’ll share his reasons why, and explain that in this age of distraction, carpe diem matters more than ever and we need to reclaim it.
We’re back at the (gorgeous) Hospital Club. Doors open 7pm. First speaker 7:30pm.
