22nd September 2016 |

Salon London is so pleased to welcome Adam Rutherford (star of science on screen, author of Wellcome Trust prize shortlisted ‘Creation’) to explore the collective memory of the human race. He will steer us through the landscape of genetics (which is the study of his latest book), explaining that our inherited genes should not be read like instruction manuals, more like epic poems, because they determine less about us as individuals  - much more about us as a species.  Beautiful stuff.

We will be hosting a session designed to give us recall worthy of a super computer, led by leading memory coach Mark Channon. Mark was spectacularly one of the first Grand Masters of Memory in the world, created the TV series Monkhouse’s Memory Masters for the BBC, and will be on hand to give us the tools we need to remember anything, anytime.  Magic stuff.

Dr Tiffany Watt-Smith is author of The Book of Human Emotions and is a research fellow in the history of emotions at UCL. Tiffany will reveal how much of our sense of self is defined by the emotions surrounding our most precious memories, how modernism has influenced the memories of our ancestors we select to keep, and how nostalgia can be deadly.  Fascinating stuff.

We’re so happy to be back at the Hospital Club in Covent Garden on 22nd September. Doors (and martinis) at 7:00pm, first speaker at 7:30pm. All you have to do is remember to book your tickets, which you can do here.  Or why not be a member?
