Short Cuts

For our March 1st Salon, we were in situ at the panelled library at the ultra glam University Women’s Club in Mayfair.   So, befitting such surroundings Salon presented – Short Cuts.  People came as receptive buds, and left with the blossoming wisdom of ancients, the mind of a genius, and the creative skills of an art movement.

Arthur I Miller was on hand to give us an ‘in’ to the brains of both Einstein and Picasso, and explained they were not so different as you might imagine.  Both Einstein with relativity and Picasso with cubism were trying to find solutions to the same problem - the pesky 4th dimension, described by total brainbox Arthur in his Pulitzer prize nominated work as ‘space, time and the beauty that causes havoc’.

And on we went, exploring our inner cubist,  our secret surrealist, our undercover dadaist and covert expressionist.  How we learnt to draw like Picasso, Mondrian and Kandinsky in this wild whirlwind session.  NY/LDN artist Susan Supercharged guided us as we created our own Abstract masterpieces to take home in our Salon party bags.  

Then to the tune of Frankie Valli on stormed to the Salon stage, famed classicist Natalie Haynes who gave us a short cut to the minds of the Greeks and Romans. She led us through the thinking of the sages, why cities are good, how you can solve political problems by withdrawing from sex, and why Stringer Bell was a Sophoclean hero. She certainly did answer once and for all exactly what the Greeks and Romans did for us.

Salon audience, again, you were wonderful.
