7th May 2014 |

In our final session in our Spring 2014 series, and to celebrate Social Book Week, we will be taking a long, hard look at Happiness, and proving there’s far more to it than the old music hall number about the male member.

For a start, are we even asking ourselves the right questions when it comes to happiness? Could we be searching in the wrong places? Leading UK lifestyle philosopher Roman Krznaric believes an empathy revolution is the answer, and will be explaining why and how.  Power to the emphatic people!

UCL neuroscientist Sophie Scott likes to have a good laugh at work, but then her job is to study the effect of laughter on the brain.  Sophie will explain how laughter bonds us as friends, as sexual partners and even as tribes, and is an essential part of being happy.

What happens when the things that make us happy tip over in to obsession? Author and stand up Nathan Penlington had no idea a collection of books much enjoyed in childhood could lead to such a dark place.  Learn from Nathan of the dangers of going looking for happiness on the internet.
