22nd March 2020 | Live Stream

On Sunday night we will be broadcasting the next in our series of Salons and we will be in conversation with classicist, author and Salon London, Salon North and ALSO Festival star, Natalie Haynes. Since we last heard from Natalie her novel A Thousand Ships has been longlisted for The Women’s Prize for Fiction (something celebrated hard by eating cheesecake) and performed LIVE at the British Museum (ditto).

So Salon London’s Helen Bagnall will be finding out how the classics can console us in modern times, how Natalie has revitalised these ancient times for contemporary audiences, how not to despair when 99% of your world disappears out of view, and how Natalie’s next book Pandora’s Jar is rewriting the stories of the women of Greek myth putting Medea, Pandora, Penelope and yes HELEN on equal footing to those men.

So please join us via this link at 7:30pm on 22nd March and following the in-conversation we’ll be putting your questions to Natalie LIVE. The live-stream is free and open to all, and copies of Natalie's brilliant book can be purchased below.
