Salon Does Some DIY

Lost in Devices?

Dr Tom Chatfield is on hand to help us DIY our own lives – to dig down to our reasons for living the way we do, to see if there could be better ways to spend our time on earth.  As one of the most respected tech commentators in the UK, this most unusual guide is designed to negotiate richer relationships with and through digital tools, while encouraging stepping back from our screens to consider what a rich engagement with life really looks like.

In the Making:

As we spend ever more time creating in a digital space are we losing the power to make with our hands? At the heart of UCL exists The Institute of Making, a department dedicated to makers, and a place where they can contemplate and understand all aspects of materials, in order to fire the imagination and to take ideas about matter in to their own practice. Jasleen Kaur from the Institute of Making will be leading an interactive session at Salon London to do exactly the same to us.

Mental Health and Safety:

Philippa Perry is a renowned psychotherapist and author. We’ve asked her to come to Salon London to help us explore what we can do ourselves to ensure good mental health. As opportunities to be connected and informed have grown exponentially so have places where we can experience stillness, and the incredible interest in mindfulness, wellness and health in the city seems to suggest we are prepared to do what it takes to look after our minds. Philippa will present a DIY approach suggesting usable strategies to support our sanity.

At The Hospital Members' Club on 7th April. 7pm start.
