As part of Salon London's Lockdown Series, we've asked author, broadcaster and Research Director at the digital Think Tank Demos Carl Miller to talk us through how to use this time to create a healthy information diet. From broadcast news, to social media to search engines - how can each of us use this time to craft ourselves a more meaningful powerful and resilient relationship with technology? Carl will be in conversation wtih Salon London's Helen Bagnall to present his 7 ideas before we open up to your questions.
Carl knows tech. His career has constantly impressively combines data and analysis with immersive, first-hand reporting to reveal what’s really happening during the digital age, he’s written over 20 major studies on online electoral interference, radicalisation, digital politics, conspiracy theories, cyber-crime, and Internet governance, and his brillaint book (bias ALERT) The Death of the Gods: The New Global Power Grab won Salon London's 2019 Transmission Prize. He's a Visiting Research Fellow at King’s College London, a member of the Society Board of the British Computing Society, a member of the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime’s Network of Experts, and a Commissioner of the Democracy and Civic Participation Commission.
