Sara has headed up the Academy of Culinary Arts for over twenty years, tirelessly pursuing its main objective, which is to educate and train young people in the hospitality industry to the highest standards.  She steers the Academy’s various initiatives including the Chefs Apprenticeship Programmes, the Annual Awards of Excellence, the Master of Culinary Arts, the Mutton Renaissance, the FEAST campaign and Chefs Adopt a School – of which Sara is also Chief Executive, a Trustee and a founder.
Sara was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2007 for her services to the hospitality industry and in 2011 won a Special Award at the Cateys.
In her spare time Sara is a food writer and chocolate expert.  She is Chairman of the Academy of Chocolate and author of Chocolate, The Definitive Guide.
